Position Overview: The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of asphalt paving projects, from planning and scheduling to execution and completion. This includes coordinating with various departments and personnel, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and maintaining project timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop project plans and schedules in collaboration with project managers
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely execution of project tasks
- Supervise and manage a team of asphalt paving crew members
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Monitor and maintain project budgets and timelines
- Conduct quality control inspections to ensure work meets required standards
- Oversee grading, sitework, and earthwork activities
- Communicate regularly with project managers, superintendents, and other project stakeholders
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training and guidance to team members
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs
- Coordinate with DOT and FDOT for projects on highways and airports
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in asphalt paving and construction
- Knowledge of asphalt, grading, sitework, and earthwork techniques- Experience working with airports and DOT/FDOT projects
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office
- Understanding of safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
